SipioneLAB
UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA
OUR LAB
We are part of a vibrant research community in the Department of Pharmacology (Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry) and at the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute (NMHI) at the University of Alberta. We are members of the group on the Molecular and Cellular Biology of Lipids (MCBL) and of the Canadian Glycomics Network. Our multidisciplinary research approach to study neurodegeneration and Huntington's disease involves a combination of biochemical, molecular and cell biology techniques, as well as omics and in vivo studies in transgenic models.

Department of Pharmacology
Our Department is home to 14 Faculty members and 7 Adjunct Faculty in 4 main research areas: cardiovascular research, diabetes research, molecular pharmacology and neuroscience research.

Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute
The NMHI is an interdisciplinary teaching and research institute. It is home to over 150 scientists and clinicians, spanning across all areas of neuroscience and mental health, and to vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs in Neuroscience.

Group on the Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids
The MCBL Group comprises 12 investigators and research laboratories that focus on lipid biochemistry, biology and physiology and on the role of lipids in cardiovascular, metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases.
